Spain will begin producing an electric car next year that’s about the same size as a Smart, but can collapse itself into an even smaller footprint when parked. The Hiriko, which means “urban car” in Basque, is the brainchild of researchers at the MIT Media Lab, and is designed to meet the needs of increasingly congested and parking challenged urban centers.

It appears that there’s much fear in the wake of the Megaupload takedown — and perhaps for good reason. While big media may be unrealistic in its expectation of converting infringers into filesharers, this is at least a major moral victory for rich movie studios and record labels, as file-hosting sites remaining a major source of piracy, behind the more traditional peer-to-peer networks and torrents.

Technology News: Social Networking: Revamped Signup Process Shoves New Gmail Users Into Google+
The new process requires a user to create both a Gmail account and Google profile. From there, he or she automatically joints Google+. The new form also asks for additional information, such as gender and a mobile phone number, although the latter is not a required field. Previously, all one needed was an email address to get a Gmail account.

One such site, hiretohack.net, advertises online services including being able to “crack” passwords for major email services in less than 48 hours. It says it charges a minimum of $150, depending on the email provider, the passwords complexity and the urgency of the job. The site describes itself as a group of technology students based in Europe, U.S. and Asia.
